Wind Knots And Tailing Loops.

 With a strong thunderstorm watch posted for the area from 6:00 until 9:00 tonight it's doubtful that I'll even wet a line. It's 3:45 now and a good time to answer some questions.

James - wants to know about algae, is it good or bad? I've written about it many times. It comes from the reservoir. The WB drainage area includes many dairy farms, cows and fertilizer both enrich the water that flows into the reservoir and sunshine does the rest. Growing algae gives off oxygen, dying algae CO2, from a fishing standpoint it's at best annoying to all fishermen. Nymphing and streamer fishing is virtually impossible above say Hale Eddy when the algae is at it's worst. The fish probably love it.

James -Danaghers, (a long time Delaware fisherman who passed away a few years ago), owned the log cabin overlooking the WB on the bend below the Mens Club.

Brian - Asked about blind casting. Have written several pages on this. Hopefully Dave at the Troutfitter or one of the Assoc. Eds.  knows how to find it and create one of those links you just click on to read it.

Smitty - The Red Barn and the Stilesville lot a couple 100 yards upstream are the only access points I know of. Have seen cars parked on river right up by the weir but don't know if it's a "legal" access.

Steve L. - No further sightings of the rattler. I assume he was on his way back up the hill to a denning area but have been careful walking around outside after dark.

Jeff K - When you cross the Corbett bridge from route 30 there is a paved turn in on the left hand side of the road. It's posted but parking for fishing is permitted.

Bob Flynn - Someone in the last two or three weeks wrote about a threader and I think the conversation also included a discussion about big eyed hooks.

Bon Flynn - You are the second person in the last two months to ask about the books. The first triggered the best 30 days of sales in over a year. The books are A Season On The Delaware and Upping your Game. They are compilations of the blog pages written in two different years. Both books can be purchased directly from Amazon. I just signed the last copy at the Deposit Troutfitter. Have but one book here at the camp and will drop it off at the Troutfitter but buying from Amazon is the surest way to get what you want.  

Note - Not only did it rain, but the power went out.The storm missed Lordville, didn't even wet under the trees, but there must have been quite a bit of wind as route 97 was covered with small branches and leaves. The power has come back on and the lights woke me up, it's 1:30!
