Who'll Stop The Rain?

With Pepacton now spilling there is no where on the river system that wade anglers can even get into the water. There is a flood watch for Delaware County. It is currently raining with over an inch of rain predicted for today. With rising water from the Pepacton spill and the additional rain, the rivers will again be rising, making floating the river a dangerous event for all but the most experienced oarsmen. Stay home and be safe.

I'm Not Even Going To Launch The Ark.

It's 8:15 and I'm waiting a couple of hours to see if things dry out enough to mow the lawn before leaving for Lafayette. The sun is out right now and it's not predicted to rain again until this afternoon. The good - With Cannonsville spilling most of the silt should be flushed out of the upper WB.  The bad - We will not be able to fish during what has always been the peak of the fishing season. A flood of this magnitude when this year's fry are just starting to hatch, coupled with last falls drought does not bode well for the 2025 year class of fish.  Watch the USGS water flows, the water levels are not currently safe for even experienced boaters. Wading will be out of the question for days. Be sensible and safe.

The water was off color and probably around 700cfs. Drove up to Stilesville and watched a picket fence of anglers casting away in what was relatively clear water. The red barn lot had half a dozen cars in it and the little DEC parking lot in Stilesville which holds no more than five cars was full, as was the roadside in both directions, (probably twenty cars). Did not see a fish hooked. Stopped on the Stilesville bridge and counted a handful of wade anglers and two drift boats above the bridge and three waders below it.  Returned to Deposit, parked the car and went fishing. You could see bottom in three fe...
