A mixed bag of changes to fishing regulations now in effect.

After cleaning up a good portion of the winter debris, (the Town snow plow deposits about a third of the road surface on my lawn each winter), I left for an afternoon drive up the WB.  Stopped and chatted with an old river friend and sat in one of his streamside chairs for about twenty minutes looking for bugs.  Saw a number of  tiny live specs , one stone fly, two paraleps, three boats and not a single rise.  Going home for the weekend to try to catch some fish for the trout pond. Had a chance to look over the new "simplified" regulations that went into effect on April 1st. New York has established a one trout any size, limit on the entire Delaware up to both dams.  Pennsylvania has left the two fish at least twelve inches long limit on the WB border water and the one fish fourteen inches long on the BR.  Hopefully PA will at least modify the WB limit to one fish.   In NY the season for taking a fish is April 1st to October 15th throughout the Delaware.  The entire river sy

Something to grouse about.

You couldn't have ordered up a more perfect day.  Beautiful bright sunshine with temp in the low 70's and a light breeze that  I would have killed for just last week on the bonefish flats.   Bought supplies and crammed the car full of "stuff" for the camp.  Arrived about 12:30 and found everything in good order. Turned on the well pump and filled the system with no apparent leaks.  Fridge and hot water heater seemed appreciative of having the winter off as they again went to work with no complaints.  The lawn mower is heading for the transfer station tomorrow so I charged up the battery, drained the oil and drove it up onto the trailer. It was 2:00 when I made a sandwich and headed out to check on the river system. It seemed that everyone was taking advantage of the weather as there were both drift boats and wade fishermen  in most of the pools that were visible from the road.  Stopped at numerous lookout spots (without my binoculars that were left in camp) and never

On the road to kingdom come.

After getting the required negative Covid-19  test, I was able to obtain a Bahamas health visa and head for Long Island for a week of bone fishing. The wind blew over 20mph most of the week and unfortunately the number of bonefish we see on the flats seems to be less each year.   On the positive side, the guides are excellent and put us in front of enough fish to make it once again a successful trip. Returned from the Bahamas to the Keys on Sunday the 4th and was on the road headed north early Tuesday morning.  Arrived home Wednesday afternoon and will pay bills, put away the Florida stuff, pack the car with trout fishing equipment and head down to open up the camp on Thursday.  With warm temperatures predicted for this week and stream levels dropping, I might even see if I can find a rising fish somewhere. The camp Wi Fi is not scheduled to be turned on until the 15th, so any reports will be dependent on me getting access to the internet from a third party.  If there is something wort
