Will be at the driving range tomorrow.

It's 6:30 and I'm rattling the ice in my glass in hopes that a mermaid will magically appear and "top off" my Perfect Manhattan. Didn't fish today. Why? Checked DRC's most recent report and they said everyone would be throwing streamers this afternoon and that the water up at Stilesville was still at 383 cfs and my only option for wading. Drove up to Deposit and to my surprise found no one at the red barn. Continued up to the Stilesville parking spot only to find it full, with  more cars parked along the road. No one was in sight so I drove up stream a little further and found a line of anglers all standing a short cast from the mud line created by the water gushing in from Cold Springs Brook. Never saw a rise, never saw an angler cast and never saw a bug on the water even with my binocs. (Also never really thought about fishing because it had rained all night, the water was up again, and I do look at the flows before leaving home. DRC never made a new report this AM, but if you read the 9/6 report you might have driven up (or down) and tried to fish.

Good time to answer Questions -

Dennis - I assume your "Sallie" is the Yellow Sally, which is a small yellow stone fly that hatches at best sporadically throughout the season. It's often fished (so I'm told) with a gold ribbed hare's ear nymph. As a dry it is at best a "C" rated attractor fly (just up from the hebes).

Troutfitter - Where was your 12:00 noon video today???

Nate - Thanks for your heads up on seeing rising fish on the EB. Drove there yesterday  with high hopes only to find that with orange colored water roaring by at 7,000 cfs, it was UNWADEABLE.

Which brings me to Jim N. - If/when (your words not mine) I'm skunked, I will be on the Troutfitter's "Bench of Redemption" with my Perfect Manhattan and you better be there to drive me home. With regards to the "unwadeable" comment, my spell check offered me the alternatives I set forth in yesterday's offering (unfadeable and unwedgeable). After reading your comment I asked Siri what was wrong with unwedgeable? She said: Here's what I found. Not enough club, a guy as old as you would need at least a seven iron.
